Essential Free Download: Author "Jah Live (J. Robinson's Lion Heart Version)"

It's no secret that we've been championing the sounds of Author for some time now. Made up of UK producers, Ruckspin and Jack Sparrow, the duo's second album, "Forward Forever",  became a cult classic in bass music circles. For me, the standout track on that album was, "Jah Live", a deep, dubbed out rocker, pulsating with reggae riddims. Now the track has been remixed by J. Robinson, who keeps the dub in place, but rather than broken beats, uses a traditional house music pulse as the backbone. Listen below and grab your free download!

Special Thanks: Author, Ruckspin, Jack Sparrow, J. Robinson for this sick remix, proper bass music and the impressive Outlook Music Festival.

Essential Weekend Playlist: Rudimental Begin USA Takeover with New Album "Home"

While our friends in the UK have seen electronic outfit, Rudimental, blow up in a big way, they are now finally making their way stateside with their smash debut album, "Home." We recently picked it up and it hasn't left our stereo speakers for the last week. Covering multiple genres, "Home" is the kind of debut album that is a breath of fresh air in the current EDM boom.

Take a listen to their first couple of single from "Home" for further evidence:

First single "Spoons" was a sublime deep house cut:

"Feel the Love" was their drum & bass offering and a HUGE #1 smash in the UK:

"Waiting All Night" defied all expectations for the follow-up

Their latest is "Right Here" and is a perfect summer song that is not to be missed:

As a BONUS - check out the recent disco-house remix that Skream did:

Special Thanks: Rudimental for (hopefully) showing that the next generation of electronic music superstar groups will look more to legendary acts like Massive Attack for inspiration on sustaining career longevity

Urban Archaeology: Famed Designer Ben Drury Picks His 10 Best Mo'Wax Record Sleeves

One of the most influential record labels of the 90's is without a doubt, Mo'Wax. Started by James Lavelle, this seminal label gave us DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, UNKLE along with some of the best compilations and recored sleeves we've ever seen. The main Mo'Wax designer was Ben Drury, who did most of the famed album sleeves and teamed with Lavelle to also feature street artists like Futura.

Now as Mo'Wax celebrates over 20 years with a proper retrospective art show (thanks to Kickstarter), Drury looks back with The Vinyl Factory at 10 of his all-time favorite record sleeves from the Mo'Wax era.

Here's a few of our favorites from the story:

So the debut album from one of our favorite drum and bass producers S.P.Y., was mostly disappointing but there are a few tracks that are instant classics though. The title track, 'What the Future Holds,' is one of them and this official music video is just as beautiful as the song itself.
